NZ Wins Orienteering Test Match

The New Zealand Schools Team has convincingly defeated the Australia, despite their home advantage, at the Oceania Orienteering Carnival being held in ACT, Australia. After the two teams were level pegging following the individual relays, New Zealand took a clean sweep of the relays to win 6-2.

In the individual races, NZ won junior girls led by Jamie Goodwin (1st) and Erin Paterson (3rd), and senior girls with Greta Knarston and Nicola Peat taking the top two places. The junior boys race was a tight affair but the Australians took the win as they did in the senior boys despite NZ's Jack Vincent taking 1st place. This left the score at 2 all. In the relays, NZ led throughout the both senior boys and senior girls, but only took the lead in the both of the two junior relays on the final leg. The 4-0 relay result, took NZ out to 6-2 and a test victory.
